Shibari (縛 り, literally "bondage") is a Japanese style of bondage that involves binding following certain technical, ethical and aesthetic principles, always in complete complicity and freely accepted by those who practice it.

Towards the end of the Edo period (Name of Tokyo until 1868) the first documentation on the shibari itself appears, in the form of images showing the use of the rope for erotic purposes. Since then, this art form of tying has been practiced as a sensual and aesthetic act.

Practiced by adult women and men, Bondage implies full confidence in the playing partner, the feeling of being tied is followed by the pleasant feeling that liberation provides, it has many followers and detractors.
